A smile is a curve that sets everything straight.” - Phyllis Diller

When Sunday rolled around and it was time for Jarrin and Kara's engagement session, I must admit I was not feeling my best. I was tired, anxious about it being a busy holiday, it was threatening to storm and I had not met Jarrin and Kara in person yet. I thought seriously about asking them to postpone to a less chaotic weekend but in the end decided to push through. I arrived at the lake a bit early to find a spot that wasn't overly crowded, trying to remain optimistic. Kevin came along to help scout and after driving through the entire park, we stumbled upon an empty lot with mowed paths and a little patch of untouched field... full of white daisies! I was still a bit anxious about the number of people we'd have to work around all evening, but was happy to have found a quiet spot to start.

After introductions, I sent Kevin off to walk their excited lab puppy, Drake, so that he could burn some energy before his turn! I began to instruct them into the first series of poses and - WOW! Immediately I notice Kara's infectious smile! Every time she smiled at Jarrin he had no choice but to smile back at her, when she giggled - he did too! The magic I was afraid would be lost to the overcrowded holiday - was happening right before me! Turns out, the magic comes from a couple being madly in love, NOT a scenic spot! All of the anxiety I had been feeling leading up to their session melted away with each smile, pose and snap of my shutter. I guess it is true after all, a smile can set everything straight!

Drake's turn!

Poor Drake was exhausted after his hike with Kevin! He didn't even want to stand up for his pictures! We convinced him to sit for a few, since he had the VERY important job of wearing the official "Save the Date" bandana! He powered through, had a nice cold drink and then slept the remainder of the night! (Thanks Kevin!)

Jarrin and Kara are planning a fall, 2025 wedding at Alpine Acres | Warfordsburg, PA. Just going to throw my vote in now for Drake as the ring bearer! Thank you both for such a wonderful night on the lake, I am counting the days until the wedding!
